about

Sarah Thomas is an Australian figurative painter living by the sea in beautiful Noosa Queensland and working under the name of Editions Noosa Art.

A career spanning 20 years has produced almost 900 artworks which now adorn walls and collections around Australia and the world.

Born and raised in Melbourne Victoria, Sarah immersed herself in art, music, dance, sport and language. Her primary school teaching career took her overseas and introduced her to the joys of travel for a few years, finally settling with her Queenslander husband in Noosa and she hasn't looked back. Raising children meant a new chapter - pursuing her interest in art and working from the garage, where she could be at home with the kids, her early paintings sold like hotcakes from the "Discovery Gallery" in famous Hastings St and launched her into local, interstate and international exhibitions.

Sarah's large, fun, flamboyant, figurative artworks depict people at leisure and are inspired by the human form, love of life and her coastal lifestyle. Feel-good paintings and pleasing to the eye, her figures are graceful and poised, looking out and connecting happily with the viewer or at times whimsically facing away but sharing their view and story with us. Swimmers, surfers, lifeguards, dancers, musicians, family groups are her choice of subject.  Quality acrylic paints and charcoal on canvas are her choice of medium.

Sarah has participated in several solo and group exhibitions, been represented by galleries in Noosa and interstate, run her own gallery, exhibited at the Florence Biennale in Italy by invitation and been commissioned for large projects by schools, offices, hotels, restaurants and commercial projects.

Nowadays she is three quarters-retired, working solely on private commissions when not away travelling or cruising the east coast on her sailboat. She is able to meet clients directly, listen to their stories, then create a beautiful artwork to suit their wishes.
